Ross Valley Charter School Read-a-thon
Sammi had a virtual "fly in" with students from Ms. Ballantyne's class at Ross Valley Charter School in March This event was part of their annual Read-a-thon fundraiser. Students listened eagerly to an adventure from Hello from Sammi in Canada, the third book in the Sammi the Owl series - and the students shared their story ideas and drawings.
San Ramon Elementary School Author Day
In May, Sammi and Suzanne enjoyed another visit with students. Kindergarten, second and third graders at San Ramon School in Novato listened to Sammi's adventure with Bella the black bear in Hello from Sammi in Canada. It was joyful to learn that students are interested in reading books and also in the process of creating them!
Sammi goes to school
January 21, 2020
On Tuesday, January 21st, Sammi visited San Ramon School in Novato to talk about her adventures in Hawai'i.
First through third grade students were introduced to the friends Sammi met in Kaua'i - from the beautiful hula dancers Alana and Leilani (Tropicbirds) to Keanu the Red Junglefowl, all the birds were there to show off. Even Albert Albatross was there, surprising the students when they learned he spends most of his time at sea, only coming to land to mate.
After the presentation, the 4th grade music students played two songs on their ukuleles; on of the songs was "In an Octopus's Garden" by the Beatles, which was Sammi's favorite.
Sammi is planning to get around to other schools and other sites. Watch for her visits this year.
